De Plason® behandeling biedt kansen voor mensen waarvoor op dit moment weinig behandelmogelijkheden zijn of voor mensen die onvoldoende baat hebben bij de huidige therapie.

In 1986 hebben de wetenschappers Robert Furchgott, Louis Ignarro en Ferid Murad onderzoek gedaan naar de werking van NO. Voor hun werk naar NO hebben ze in 1998 de Nobelprijs gekregen.
